The precision in the boxwoods and 20-foot-tall hornbeams set the property off with unique angles and coverage. The copper fountain and stone fountain created a relaxing environment with the sounds of water.

Breath-taking illumination and fountains complement a new pool and pool house

The space serves as a natural extension of the couple’s characteristic 1932 home, which was Royce built, with a design inspired by Cotswold cottages in England. A new wood-burning fireplace, constructed of limestone, is a prominent feature of the new patio. Surrounded by chaise lounge chairs and curved seating, the fireplace is a work of art.

The concrete columns were eight feet deep, and required water to bore the holes because of their depth. The irregular flagstone with butter jointing path and stairs allowed for an organic transition to the patio. This was paired with an aluminum, with stainless steel, railing. This created a beautiful and strong outline to the patio

For the bi-level pergola that covers much of the 1,100-square-foot patio area, Spayde used solid cedar posts and a semi-transparent brown stain that allowed the wood grain to show. The extended cedar rafters also reference the pueblo-style elements of the house.
